Meet Luz!
Hello, everyone! My name is Luz, and it is a great honor and privilege to serve as one of Cavanaugh's assistant rectors. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois but moved to South Bend when I was 16 years old, and I have been here ever since. I attended Saint Mary's College for undergraduate studies where I studied Spanish and Religious Studies. Since I was a little girl, I always had the desire and felt a call to be a teacher. When I graduated from Saint Mary's I pursued teaching. While I was teaching I became involved in ministry at my local parish by starting a young adult group. It was there that my love for young adult ministry grew. This led me to seek formation to become a better leader. That is how I discerned into the Master of Divinity program here at Notre Dame.
I am Mexican American and I like to embrace both of my cultures through cooking! During my free time, you can find me watching movies, hosting dinners, karaoke, and listening to music in Spanish! I hope I can do some of these activities with you all sometime during the semester.
